RPS Design Group have secured planning permission and listed building consent for the sympathetic extension of a Grade II listed barn out the outskirts of the Burton Marsh Nature Reserve in Neston, Cheshire. The contemporary extension to the gable end of the mid 18th century barn will provide much needed additional living space for the residents while also making the most of the stunning view out over the wetlands and River Dee estuary to the west.
The conservation officer stated:
'The proposal is considered to be subtly contemporary while respecting the material palate of the site. The proposed extension is considered to have been carefully designed to integrate with the existing building having regard to the desirability of preserving and enhancing the building’
