This study included detailed analysis of traffic/pedestrian movements through the town on a raceday as well as identifying key areas of Cartmel racecourse which would become the focus of future investment. The Townscape initiative was a community consultation exercise involving residents, local businesses and local councils. The aim, to protect and conserve the character of the historic village whilst supporting and promoting local businesses.
